Bird IslandBird is the most northerly island of the Seychelles Archipelago and is a 30 minute flight by light aircraft from Mahé. Flights are booked with the Lodge when booking accommodation. From May to October part of the island becomes inhabited by millions of nesting sooty terns and with a year-round population of atleast 20 other bird species, this is an ornithologist's heaven. An important nesting site for turtles and home to the world's largest tortoise, Bird Island offers a magical holiday experience. And there are no pretentions here, the emphasis is very much on relaxation and informality. A true retreat from today's busy world. Note flights between Mahé and Bird may not operate every day. It may be necessary to adjust the number of nights at Bird Island Lodge according to the inter-island flight schedules. |
