Mahé West & SouthNatural beauty and great views describe Mahé west, home to the Morne Seychellois National Park, the highest peak in the Seychelles at 905m above sea-level, which covers 20% of the main island. Here you will find the Mission Lodge, Port Launay Marine Park - a favourite for visitors and locals alike, famed sea-food restaurant Chez Plume and the fishing village of Anse Boileau. There are 3 most regularly used routes to cross over to the west side and join the main coastal road that leads south. The southern half of Mahé is less mountainous and less populated than the north. The beaches and coastal scenery are the star attractions. Accommodation ranges from modest guesthouses and self-catering apartments to small hotels. The south is where many artisits have set up shop. Don't miss : walks in the mountains; snorkelling in Port Launay; beaches of Anse la Mouche, Takamaka and Intendence; the chance to go exploring; the marquetry ceiling in the Anse Boileau Church and a visit to the artists in their studios. |
